Music lovers... Let's take some time to devote a thread to the blues. I've been discovering this long under rated genre, and I'm liking what I'm hearing. Guys like Lucky Peterson, Joe Bonamassa, Jimmy Thackery, and the like... I took my brother to see Joe when he came to Indy back in November. It was an outstanding show. Let's share some of the blues tunes you like.

I'll start off with one by Lucky that I love to jam to.

May not be of the era, but John Mayer is an excellent guitarist... I especially like his blues guitar riffs.

The Marquise Knox Band live at The Beale on Broadway in St. Louis.Sadly, the Beale just closed their doors after 18 years. The wife and I have visited that place a couple of times a year, for the last 11. We've seen some outstanding acts there.

Those turned off by his “your body is a wonderland” era pop have know idea what an insane guitarist he is.

One of my favorite albums is Muddy and the Wolf (Muddy Waters/Howlin' Wolf). Clapton makes a appearance.
A modern blues singer with an "old" sound, you'd like Susan Tedeski (sp?).... but if we're gonna talk about blues, its probably best to give a nod to the old-timers first.

I'm not savvy enough to add videos but I recently got into the blues when I thought about taking up guitar. I really like them. Buddy Guy, Walter Trout, of course SRV.

And as far as John Mayer, I couldn't stand him, especially his song about Fathers being good to your daughters, but after hearing him play I gained a newfound respect for him. He can play.

I got to see BB King at the ACC, Notre Dame. He was a class act. ND used to have annual Blues Festivals. Many of the old timer Chicago blues legends used to perform at the Stephan Center on campus. Guys with names like; Mississippi John Hurt or Mississippi Fred McCullough, and of course, Muddy Waters. Take a blanket and sit on the floor or dance if you want. Good times in River City.
