Even modern liquid fueled missiles take 60 to 90 minutes at best to launch because at least one fuel component is usually cryogenic and cannot be kept loaded, so they must be fueled just prior to launch

That's why land based ballistic missiles went multi-stage solid fuel as soon as the technology was mature. The missiles are fueled and good to go at all times and given the proper launch codes can be away in 4 to 5 minutes

Long ago I read about the channelers that the Germans had been using, in part to obtain technologies needed for their version of the "military industrial complex". Don't really have any reason to think they were paperclip volks but who knows, maybe they were brought over as well. Any how, it's a hazy part of rewritten history but apparently they were successful to some extent. And that whole mix of deviltry fortified with high tech is such a fasci-nating (just being punny:)) subject.

By the way, just a couple of info tidbits.

That lovely streamlined design of the A4? They needed something that worked so they used the shape of their standard 7.92x57 bullets as a design model.

2nd tidbit. Before he passed away Von Braun told of what the plans were for the coming "wars".

    Spike,
Yep, he did. Before cancer got him, enlisted the aid of an executive with Fairchild Aircraft to try to intervene. It's an interesting and sometimes wacky story with paperclip, the people brought into the US (high tech, intel, medicine, psych's, military), the ideologies and influences they brought with them and off the cliff into the woowoo that our world really is, reality being a little bit different most everywhere you look. Always tons of conflicting data, disconcerting connections, rabbit trails. But von Braun wasn't the only one either and doing a Wile E. Coyote off of that cliff can take a whole big bunch of rummaging for old books.
If you're interested in perusing the subject on the interseine then the Fairchild person was Dr. Carol Rosin. Paperclip was the name of one of the major ops where nazi's were washed off and inserted into our "military industrial complex". Catherine Fitts and Mark Skidmore have done some awesome detective work on tracking the funding and now recently are getting some mainstream attention.

Peenemuende has a museum. It takes you thru the entire history. It also gives info on the V-4.Rumour has it Hitler took the V-4 plans to S.A. to have it built there.I have yet to get much info on the V-4.If von Braun had gotten more funding a year or so earlier,we all would be speaking German right now.

Once read about it and listened to some very intelligent people giving a presentation about Oak Ridge not producing an adequate quantity of enriched material for the "little boy". And that material to be sent from from Germany to Japan was rerouted to us in a pre-paperclip agreement. Also, there was the debriefing documented of the Luftwaffe pilot that apparently was witness to a test conducted by the Germans with appropriate fireball and radio interference resulting from the explosion.
There's a whole bunch of loose ends out there that don't quite reflect official history. So could we be speaking German instead? I don't think so because the game is rigged. With a capital G. As if to say that yes we have free will but (my opinion) if you endanger His plan then He has great big boots and will plant one or both in your backside.

Oh, forgot to add, for a long time the argument against the Germans having a fruitful enrichment program was along the lines of oh yeah so where's the mountain of waste and spent material. They found it burrowed in Germany a few years ago.
