Indiana will now offer a third option for gender on ID, the X designation. The article says you have to provide BMV with a certified physician's statement of a permanent change of sex in order to receive the X.
Can you change your sex to an X, neither a male or female genitalia? If you have permanently changed your sex from male to female aren't you a female rather than an X?
If you get an X ID can either a male or female officer search your person? What jail unit are you sent to?

Look at your driver's license. Nowhere does it say "Gender". It says "Sex". Previous options were M for male and F for female. Nowadays I wonder if it is intended to identify you or state your preference.

Here are some other options:
X - Confused
Y - Yes
N - No
O - Often
S - Sometimes
