Another violent crime in Lafayette, and a friend of 35 years is dead.
Around 6;10am this morning, a caller said a house was on fire on 31st St.
The caller said that the caller, and another person inside the house were both stabbed, then the house was torched.

I'd known the victim for decades.
He was NOT an aggressive individual. He also refused to carry a firearm, stating more than once that if he carried a gun, he, "...would probably use it on someone".

Rumor has it that Ron and a friend caught someone trying to break into an out building.
Ron had several out buildings, and many, many tools for landscaping.
He had complained for a month or so that someone was breaking in and stealing his equipment.

I told him a couple of weeks ago that I would come over and install some trail cameras in his back yard, but he said he doubted it would work.
I was going to do it anyway, but never got to it.

Ron had his faults, but don't we all?
He did not deserve to go like this...

    R.I.P. Ron
    I'll miss our conversations.

I appreciate the kind thoughts, but the post was really meant as an avenue for me to vent.
I can't begin to tell you how this just pisses me off.

This is not the town I grew up in.

Sorry to hear, but it's not just Lafayette... it's the whole damn country. Problem is that it's spreading, and coming to the smaller communities. (Not that Lafayette is small.) I wish he had been able to have more faith in his abilities to control himself with a weapon. It may have made a difference here. I hate hearing of the passing of a good man. It seems there are so few left these days... Prayers for his family, and that the scum is caught.

My side of the City is no where near what we grew up in. No where near.
Several of the Ingo LEO run our area. They have done a really good job out here.

The cops are killin it. Best cops in the country in marion county. They're getting their hands tied by politicians. The criminals have it made.
    This is terrible

I know several of the West Lafayette police, and a handful of the Lafayette, department, but the ones I know best are all leaving the force.
Can't say I blame them, not at all.
Just a shame to see the ones that I KNOW are good, and they're no longer there.

Well, yesterday the report was that he was stabbed to death.
Todays nesw says he died from multiple gunshot wounds, and that the roommate had been stabbed.

Once again, the stellar rreporting from Lafayette's finest journalists leaves much to be desired.

Sorry to hear the loss of your friend. We have to many people that find that crime pays and they don't have repercusions for their actions.
