Your first statement that Doc quoted says that Americans easte $165B / year by tossing out unwanted snacks and meals.
But then your ladt post says...they quoted a 7yr study of excess waste by Americans. Most of the study involved paper waste, alcohol, entertainment and single driver commutes.
So my question is can you be more clear was it $165B combined or did it break fown dollar amounts for different categories?
I did not follow the articles footnotes to view the actual study..... so I cannot refer you to it. But, the $165 billion was just the cost of wasted snacks and meals.

I can see why religion recruits from the starving,
    1. You will do or say anything to keep from starving to death.
    2. Starved people are ripe subjects for mind control, all cults use it as a weapon to break down defenses.
    3. It's hard to understand what's happening when you are semi-conscious or unconscious from starvation.
Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world. (James 1:27 NIV)

“Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’

“Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’

“The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’
    (Matthew 25:34-40 NIV)

Are the faithful hypocrites? Yes. We're sinners in need of salvation, claiming to strive for a moral standard while failing it continuously. That's sort of why we need a Savior. That said, the charitable contributions and donations of the faithful utterly dwarf those of the non-faithful, and it isn't even close - not today, not historically.

"Computer glitch" now added to list of potential culprits, which include "electrical short-circuit" and "temporary elevators".

    https://apnews.com/92db19558da04f09b94cc31fb5ce16a5

A “computer glitch” may have been behind the fast-spreading fire that ravaged Notre Dame, the cathedral’s rector said Friday, as architects and construction workers tried to figure out how to stabilize the damaged structure and protect it from the elements...

Speaking during a meeting of local business owners, rector Patrick Chauvet did not elaborate on the exact nature of the glitch, adding that “we may find out what happened in two or three months.”

On Thursday, Paris police investigators said they think an electrical short-circuit most likely caused the fire.

The Parisien newspaper has reported that investigators are considering whether the fire could be linked to a computer glitch or related to temporary elevators used in the renovation that was underway at the time the cathedral caught fire. Chauvet said there were fire alarms throughout the building, which he described as “well protected.”

Dang, those French were really ahead of their time! We didn't get electricity in the US until the 1880s!

That article probably wasn't very well thought out.

So I invited him to a church once for the architectural beauty, he's a carpenter and so has a personal connection to fine craftsmanship. I figured we'd stay for 2 minutes tops. I told him tap me on the shoulder when you're ready to go. 30 minutes went by before he stood up. Something very notable, especially if you knew him.

Months later he came home and found his wife in bed with someone else. He told me all he could think of was two things, killing them both, or going back to that church and looking for answers. Maybe 3 lives were saved that day.

Since I didn’t retain much, if any, from my freshman French class I have no idea what is being said in clip (not magazine) about the US helping France rebuild the church. If they are talking about government dollars (taxpayer dollars) then my question is WHY? First, why would we send money to France for anything ? Secondly, isn’t this in some way having the government support religion (Catholicism) ?
