On second thought, its probably just too offensive of a symbol today. Just bulldoze it and make everyone happy.

Given all the recent attacks on Catholic churches in France, one cannot help but wonder if this is something other than an accident.

It would be a strange place to start a fire if your intention was to burn it down. It started VERY high up. Possible? Yes, but unlikely.

AFP reporting the flames haven't reached the sacristy, which hosts a small museum filled with sacred and royal artifacts that survived the Revolution

My first thought; any scandinavian black metal bands currently touring Paris? Or are they death metal? I can never keep them straight.

Actually the perfect place, limited reach for hoses, filled with heavy wood beams, and very limited access to the cavities and attics.
