Today I bought a pocket knife at Cabella's in Hammond. When I got to the checkout the cashier wanted to see ID. Asked if it was company policy and she said yes. I told her no offense, but it's a dumb policy. Since I was there and wanted the knife I went ahead and bought it. I burned up the last few dollars I had on a gift card.

That's it for me, I can live without Cabella's going forward.

Told the cashier in grocery store last week that I was offended they no longer ask for my ID for alcohol purchase. She replied that I looked to be over forty years old. Didn't realize prior to that experience that one needed to be at least 40 to purchase alcohol in Indiana. Maybe that applies to knives at Cabelas as well?

I'm wayyyy over 40. Glad my post is giving you guys some kicks. BTW, the cashier was somewhat overweight and had green hair. Not my type.

Is there a law that prevents them from selling knives to anyone under 18 or is it just store policy?

It's common practice to ask for ID in the UK ...
