Armed Forces day comes & goes without notice in this country...

We have a bike ride and/or gun range time in the morning,
When the driving & firearms are parked, we break out the food & keg,
All current and former military are invited, along with family & supporters.

Keep in mind we are hillbillies, river rats, puddle jumper & ridge runners, so it's often NOT what you would expect.
We race plastic toy cars (power wheels type) down a hill,
Throw out a feed fit for the military & their families on a day off,
Have games for kids & adults alike.

This is not a visit to the grave sites like memorial day, it's not a get together for vets that excludes active duty...
It's an all inclusive fun time for everyone...

Knowing it's both hillbillies & military/vets, it CAN get offensive to those not in the military family!
There are crude jokes, there is swearing, there is alcohol consumption, and it's all in stupid good fun!
Some bug bites, some sunburns, some hangovers, some scratches & bruises...
You just have to suspend some higher brain function and go with it!

We had current nuclear reactor specialists, a current drone driver, a few field grunts, and several vets & their families.
The weekend BEFORE memorial day, the folks lower in the ranks (read NOT officers) can get leave, so we have it on armed forces day and send them back bruised, sunburned, hungover and grinning from ear to ear from too much to eat, having time with their families, general fun & games...

This is the ONLY event I know about where a vet can bet an artificial leg on a plastic car race ;)
(And yes, it's happened, and the leg is now a trophy & good luck piece since he bet & lost.)

It's the only place you will see a guy screaming down a hill on a plastic car, in a gladiator helmet swinging an artificial leg.
If you were ever an enlisted man, you can see how this appeals to current/former military,
We aren't exactly squeamish, pretentious, overly cautious and obviously not to proud to play in the dirt!

I didn't join for parades or medals and recognition. Still don't want it.
The indianapolis Motor speedway always honors our military servicemen & women on Armed Forces Day. They do it the whole weekend.

Metals? Really, you seem to have no knowledge of the military.

Have you ever said anything positive about anything? You seem like a really pessimistic and possibly depressed person.

Today is the 5th anniversary of my protege's passing, screw the parade. I'll take a cold beer with him instead.

Some people just have to suck the fun out of everything like it's their sole job on the planet.
Scared of everything, anti-everything, can't wait to kick sand in everyone's picnic...
The only thing they 'enjoy' is making someone else miserable.

There seems to be an abundance of them on the internet.

    ------

Life as we know it isn't over, there is a lot of stupid fun to be had!
No way this bunch will roll over & play dead, there are women to chase, beer to drink, plastic cars to race & bar-b-que to eat!

I know, right?? You know there are people that actually believe they are totally surrounded by Nazis and White supremacists that are begging them to create full auto weapons for them? Crazy I tell ya.

    Self-analysis is a good thing.

It very much is a good thing, I wish more people did it instead of trying to pee on someone else's good time...

    Just the way it is...
Every neck beard thinks he's an 'Operator', wants a toy to complete his ensemble/costume.
Too bad more didn't become adults and step up to be men, we wouldn't have the issues we have now if they had...

If they had, they could join in on the fun instead of what they do!
As long as they aren't being a douche, they can still come, but they will have to get away from the internet for awhile...

    Well here we go again.
Regardless of how you feel about the day or those who may want to honor it lets keep it civil and on track.

That will be all that is said.

I’m not gonna rain on anybody’s parade. You do you. Just don’t try to shade anyone else.

Half a dozen active military that could get leave,
A bunch of vets, family members & friends,
    Way too much to eat,
    Cold beer on tap,
And a 'Race' that has a feature called 'Balls To The Face' in the middle,
The finish line was a mud pit, under 6 feet of water last week,
    What could POSSIBLY go wrong?

'Stupid Races', the most fun you can have for under $10 on a 'Car'...
