...in the vintage car parade before the Hoosier Hundred last Thursday. They told us not to get sideways in the corners but I cheated a little bit on that and got to do a full throttle blast down the backstretch.

This was a first for me and a dream come true just to know what it feels like to be on track and to have that much horsepower on tap. The car was race-ready and actually ran at Bloomington Speedway the following night. It was well tuned and absolutely hauls ass. It was hard to play by the rules and not get in a lot of trouble for being too enthusiastic.

Many thanks to John Tosti and his gang for making this dream come true. They even put my name on the car. I’m still grinning like the cat that ate the canary.

That’s my brother tbhausen going old school with the open face helmet, goggles and bandana in the foreground of the last image. Hopefully he will add on to this thread.

We put a GoPro on the car so I should have a YouTube video of the whole thing uploaded before long. I’ll share the URL here once it’s ready. Thanks to Ryan Hergott from the Hergott Real Estate Group for making that happen. And I’ve got to tell you all the time I’ve spent running the iRacing simulator really helped prepare me for this. I knew exactly what to expect handling-wise when I got in the car but it was still way more intense than I thought it would be.

I must say now I understand a little bit more why some people are willing to sacrifice their safety, their family and their fortune; everything, to drive one of these cars. It truly is like a drug when you put your foot down. I haven’t felt that kind of rush since I did a head-first bungee jump from an 180 foot high tower.

    That's a great experience! Congrats.

So just mentally substitute "Sprint Car" for "Stock Car"...

Where ever my GPS says I am
I want to do that so bad, I have gotten close. Many years ago I had a Jeep and the track promoter at the Terre Haute action track wanted 4wd to help pack it. At first you could do 30 mph in 4wd. As the track got worked in, you could go to rear wheel drive and up to 40. Of course that meant also you could slide the back out a bit. One time I did it a bit too hot and was perpendicular to the inside rail, in 4wd. Never hit but was fun. Of course there was a time the track was gone and race canceled so I got a few fun laps in.
