Tomorrow will mark the 75th anniversary of D-day, a very special day for France and especially for the people of Normandy.
The Allied invasion that started on the beaches of Normandy marked the be beginning of Europe's liberation and eventually the end of Nazi Germany.

Commemorative ceremonies already started today with mass parachute drops over Carentan (near Sainte-Mère-Eglise), Normandy.

Two US WW2 veterans took part in the jump, 75 years after their original jump. :patriot:

US Army Rangers from the 75th regiment are also re-enacting history by climing the cliffs at Pointe Du Hoc. :patriot:

Those pictures are from a rehearsing yesterday.I assume they will climb in full WW2 uniform on D-day during the official ceremony.

The cliff is 90 feet tall.

Thanks Sylvain. I'd love to be one of those jumping. I have a couple dozen round jumps. Those are a blast.

Thanks Sylvain. I'd love to be one of those jumping. I have a couple dozen round jumps. Those are a blast.

They do look like fun.Especially from a C-47, in WW2 uniforms, with a bunch of other guys.

Here is a video from a jump a few years ago, also on D-Day.
I don't know if it's open to civilians.

Just posted this in another thread. The Evansville LST 325 is moored at the casino for the week with, I think, free admission. It will be morring there permanently starting sometime next year I believe.

I'm guessing the veterans found this jump to be a little more enjoyable!:patriot:

First guy in the second group needed to exit with a bit more enthusiasm. :):Given his reluctant exit style, I wonder if the JM stopped him or he hesitated?
