I had no idea this was coming out. Looks like it may be good. It is hard to tell as I think Roland Emmerich films can be hit or miss.

After Pearl Harbor* I wouldn't hold high expectations for any war movie. It's a crap shoot ... you might get Saving Private Ryan or you might get Indianapolis: Men of Courage.

*Roger Ebert on Pearl Harbor: "Pearl Harbor is a two-hour movie squeezed into three hours, about how, on Dec. 7, 1941, the Japanese staged a surprise attack on an American love triangle."

Have hopes for a lot of books being turned into movies now that cgi has become such high quality.
But yeah, Midway surprised me too.

    Thanks for the heads up!

When I was a young man I got to meet George Gay, the sole survivor of the USS Hornet's Torpedo Squadron 8. His entire squadron was shot down at Midway.

    Squadron VT-8.
    He was the only survivor
Imagine being in the picture below. Then, you're the only one.

Weird coincidence, I was outside Atlanta in the very early 1990s for a conference and met him as well. There was some kind of WWII gathering at the same events center. Was in line behind him and a ME 209 pilot at the coffee bar.
