It didn't mix 45 years ago when I was a teen, and it still doesn't.
I was on the road all week, saw plenty of idiot crashes and several teens standing around wrecked cars.

    No decks, that's new! ;)

Actually, while correct (generally) about teens and alcohol, I'm going to go with the more obvious.... driving and alcohol don't mix.... unless you're trying to scramble your brains on the asphalt.

of course the deck is shot but the main damage seems to be to the actual house structure, contractor has been here and said 18,000 will take care of the outside visable damage, he will be back on Tues. to meet with the homeowners appraiser to see the inside and quote a price to repair.

according to the drivers insurance company he has only 25k in coverage our homeowners will have to pick up the balance then raise my rates to get it back.

Coverage is only what his INSURANCE will pay. You, or your insurance on your behalf, can sue for any unpaid amount. He owes for the damage he caused. Pretty simple.

If they raise YOUR rates you should raise all holy hell with them. Getting their money back is their problem, not yours. They can (and almost certainly will) sue him and anyone else they can legally get hold of.
