Another Scam?

[NKBJ]

This morning I visited ingo on my phone. My mistake.

us.yourmobiletop.com popped through ingo with the "Congradulations! You are one of 100 users that we have selected...". Yaddah, yaddah.

I haven't been able yet to figure out how to make them go away. If anyone has an idea other than visiting Nassau with a baseball bat please let me know.

Could be that it came onto my phone while I was dialed in to ingo but not "through" ingo. But I don't surf around much on the phone except weather info. I tried ingo while sitting on the back porch this morning after checking the weather. The service out here is so bad that half the time I need to stand in the back yard with a cookie sheet to make a call.

I usually only get those on https://www.survivalistboards.com and don’t recall getting them on INGO.

Hard to close out the pop up and I don’t want to click on it. Usually set phone to airplane mode, close Safari app, then can go back to surfing.

On that site, you MUST have a strong ad blocker, the mods even recommend it.

This highlights the problem with ads. INGO runs a clean shop and doesn't want obnoxious and malicious ads on its site. The ad re-sellers don't care though, they want maximum profits and as a results some of the crap gets through. Thus the proliferation and utilization of ad blocking apps with no regards for "safe" sites or "good" ads.

@OP if you're using an Android phone you can try Blockada. It should take care of most ads phone wide without root. Another option is the kiwi browser and you're favorite ad blocking extension from the Chrome app store but that will only block ads from websites. On the other hand if you're an iOS user, someone else will have to offer ad blocking suggestions.

When I've had something like that happen, besides using my app killer to close all the apps, I ALSO had to..
click on the bottom left of the screen, where the two rectangles are. Not the part of the screen that rotates when you rotate the phone, but the part that doesn't rotate.
This should bring up a history.
Close the one for your browser.
