$1600. I had a couple of estimates as high as 2200 and 2400. This guy came recommended on that Nextdoor app for my area. He's still got to come back and grind down the stump though. Log splitter was $104 for 2 days (really per day but if you rent on a Saturday you get a two-fer.

Would selling the wood cover the price to get the tree down?

I've seen people offering the wood to anyone who would come and take the tree down.

No. I probably got about 4 or 5 ricks of firewood out of it. Most people sell firewood for 50 or 60 dollars a rick. I'll burn it in our fireplace, but it will probably take at least a couple of winters to do it. I don't have fires all that often but I probably will this winter!

WOW...I can't imagine spending that to drop a tree. I know it is more when it is close to buildings, power lines, etc., but that is a lot.

    Afternoon guys

Howdy mom! Yeah it's pricey here in the city. Most people don't keep the equipment around to do it themselves so that is factored in to the price. My little 18" chainsaw sure wouldn't have been enough! These guys were good. Dropped it right between two big hostas that I really didn't want to have to move, plus a flower bed on one side and a big oak tree on the other side. I did take down a big spruce a few years ago myself, but it was probably only 30' tall and maybe 18 - 20" in diameter.
