Is it me or are these kids' names getting weirder every year?

My wife is a teacher and is getting the joy of making her 3 X 5 cards with her student's names on them. I get to listen to her rant about the artistic license on the spelling of common heard names. Hokey smokes!! I can't give examples but I am just truly jaded at their parents. Wow!!!

The traditional names are now out of style. No more John or Steve or Mary. Kind of sad really. Some of the names chosen these days are ridiculous. I am sure there is some poor kid named Zoltan out there somewhere.

Here are some recently encountered names: "Secretia" and "T-A" (pronounced tadasha)
    Secretia is just gross.

Trying to remember some that I ran across in 30 years of teaching. Naytcher (pronounced nature), Daminion (pronounced Damion), and Cellophane are the ones that come to mind right now.

My 26 year old daughter has friends that use some crazy names she says it’s fine must be a generational thing?

When I was in Elementary school, in the 60s, I knew a kid named Rocco Marando.

Haven't seen Rocco in 50 years, so I'm not sure who he breaks legs for.

In the 60's I had a co-worker named Merry Christmas. Bro in law named his son Traver, not the more common Trevor. Of course people mistakenly call him Trevor.

There are a lot of crazy names out there.
When I was in my 20's I worked in a factory. The plant manager was probably in his 40's. His name was Dick Freel... He had all kinds of nicknames

In the circles we run in, there are a lot of very "old" names coming back in favor. Rebecca, Hannah, Jordan, Antonio, Jeremiah, etc...

My wife went to school with someone named "Lover". His mother didn't know his father's name, but he was a good.... well....
