Is it me or are these kids' names getting weirder every year?

My wife is a teacher and is getting the joy of making her 3 X 5 cards with her student's names on them. I get to listen to her rant about the artistic license on the spelling of common heard names. Hokey smokes!! I can't give examples but I am just truly jaded at their parents. Wow!!!

They want their kids to be "special".
When EVERYONE is special, NO ONE is special.

The traditional names are now out of style. No more John or Steve or Mary. Kind of sad really. Some of the names chosen these days are ridiculous. I am sure there is some poor kid named Zoltan out there somewhere.

    Secretia is just gross.

Trying to remember some that I ran across in 30 years of teaching. Naytcher (pronounced nature), Daminion (pronounced Damion), and Cellophane are the ones that come to mind right now.

We’re millienials and we went with Hudson, Chloe, and Emberly. Is that vanilla enough to pass INGO standards?

No standards here. I do like Emberly. At least it is not phonetically spelled and spoken.
