Could this be viewed as a case of a good guy with a gun?

"...an off-duty firefighter held the suspect – a 20-year-old man who was not immediately identified – at gunpoint until police arrived..."

As for the man arrested, Missouri is a constitutional carry state and allows rifles to be carried in the open, so he was probably within his rights...but dumb none-the-less.

I am interested in what your thoughts on this?

    Hell yes!

I trust people to be able to make good decisions regarding this kind of stuff. If I see a guy carrying an AR with a web vest and 3 extra mags, I'm probably going to at least ask him what he's up to. Especially if I don't see a badge.

I'm just wondering how a guy with a pistol was able to get the drop on a dude hell bent on murder with a long rifle.

I would like to hear/read the ENTIRE story after everything is sorted out.

Yeah, sounds like the douche-bag didn't really have his heart in it either, if he made it into the store without firing a shot. Or maybe he was after someone specific...
