It occurs to me that there are probably a lot of things that we remember doing that the younger generation (in the 1st world) never will.

    - straightening old nails for reuse.

    - sharpening pencils before heading to accounting class.

    - repairing a toaster.

    - dial a telephone (with an actual dial).

    - order from a printed catalog.

Whenever the kids take a Blu-Ray out of the player, I say "make sure to rewind it". They never thought it was funny....and they think I'm downright pitiful when I say that after watching a streaming movie.

    Anyhoo...

    - waiting 2 or 3 (or 4 or 5) years for a movie to come out for home play.

    - watching a filmstrip in school (best days ever).

    - standard elementary, junior high and high school EDC:

    I still do this☺️

You do...but what about the next generation?

I once dismantled a 60x30 foot concrete block wall with a hammer and cold chisel, then chipped the mortar off of every block so they could be reused....but my boss at that time was a bit of a lunatic.

Turning a knob to dial in a radio (or TV) station.

Use an atlas to figure out how to get from where you are to a place a long ways away.

    Order from a catalog.

    Lick a stamp.

Pay full retail for something you can cheaper online. ;)

Going to Sears, Montgomery Ward, J.C. Pennys and any mom and pop hardware store to buy a firearm with only proof of age needed.
