Been watching Danville closely, as Brownsburg Schools is also watching. We told Brownsburg "no" just a couple of years ago. There are grumblings beginning again. If Danville voters allow this, Brownsburg voters will have to deal with it yet again.

Of course, we have our own issues. Town wants to raise the water rates some HUGE amount. Turns out, they have been using water funds for non-water purposes for years. Oops. Now the games begin, to see if they can sneak it in (the "out in the open" way didn't work). Glad I don't live inside town limits.

As for schools: they know their budget. They get a percentage of property taxes. That's it. Live within it.

We went thru this almost 2 years ago. They pushed this thru by telling people it was tax neutral and their taxes wouldn't go up. What people failed to realize was that there property taxes were set to go down. Lake county was exempt from the 1% cap for a lot of years and was set to take effect. So the sheep voted to pass the referendum. It turned out most people with homes valued over 120k there taxes stayed the same(instead of going down) but it hurt the people who could least afford it the most. If your house was valued under the 120k your taxes not only didn't go down but went up. Cost me personally another $200 per year, instead of taxes going down and saving me $200 per year. 10 years ago my property taxes were under $400 per year, they're now $1200

This theft all across the board (local, state, and federal) is getting real old!

Vigo county has one also this election. Seen signs for both yes and now. They are apparently in the red. This is of course after the last super got at least 200k a year, a police car (unmarked, was a special deputy) and two of his employees stole at least hundreds of thousands in an illegal scheme.

the problem I have with it is that the previous super never once mentioned being in the red. They are talking about redistricting, closing schools, selling the headquarters and moving it to a closed school, and that is with them passing the referendum. I’m leaning towards voting no on it. If the casino referendum passes, they might get some more tax revenue to help also. Of course there are people against that also due to the economic blow it might have (apparently those people having looked at Vigo county lately on how it is doing economically).

Can someone explain what they want to do with two pools? Where does one school system put TWO pools? One in the high school and one in the middle school, or ??? My kids are swimmers and I can actually sympathize with wanting aquatic upgrades... most school natatoriums are pretty bad. But seriously, TWO pools?

Schools have plenty of money. It's not our fault they can't manage it properly. Look at what the administrative overhead costs are, and I bet you can find plenty of pool money there.

OK, that's certainly true. I've never seen such incompetent bureaucracy as in a large school district.

Having plenty of money, eh, not so much.

Never vote to raise your own taxes. Never.

I suppose I could add: "unless they have consistently used the money they have efficiently, without waste and corruption and can demonstrate a concrete need."

....but it's easier just to say: "Never"....because I have never seen a governmental entity meet those qualifications.

Fixed it for ya, lol. So a church (or any other entity) asking for money is the moral equivalent of the state stealing money from the citizens? Ok...

If I stop contributing to my church or the NRA because I don't like the way they spend the money, there is a very low chance that agents with arrest warrants will show up at my house.
