I'm kinda disappointed that they kinda went WOKE. It wasn't unbearably woke, but c'mon. Venezuela isn't socialist, it's a far right dictatorship in that world. And the "people's choice" is the SJW. They just had to make the premise a woke fantasy.

But, the eye rolling bull**** aside, it was still a good season.

I just started watching and noticed the same crap. You forgot it is a "female" SJW.

So far it hasn't ruined it for me, but it does get old.

    Yeah, was rather obvious.

Also I understand They have to take some liberties with reality to get the storyline going but I found it particularly unreal and annoying that the supposedly top-notch boat driver runs off and gets lost in the jungle, apparently with no plan to rendezvous at an alternate location in case SHTF. That a couple other things seemed way over the top but c’est la hollywood.

Just started to watch Season 2, and I had to pause at the opening credits, when it showed his dog tags from the USMC. The Clancy character was Roman Catholic, the TV show character is now No Preference.

I watched part of season one and couldn't figure out why they even called it Jack Ryan. Why use the names and toss the rest. The movies were just as bad. Screw em. Follow the books or come up with your own names....

Just got through Season 2, Episode 1, and this is like a re-write of 'Clear & Present Danger'. I can understand changing the Venezuelan government's political leanings to make it less like contemporary events, but this just feels lazy.

I read a lot of Clancy stuff too, in fact some of the books that I brought over with me were his: Rainbow Six, The Bear & The Dragon, Red Storm Rising to name a few.

    **edited to add**
At this point if you are taking liberties with the source material why not have it as in the Jack Ryan universe, but a family member who followed a similar career path?

I liked it. Both seasons. Let’s face it, the books are old and outdated at this point. It’s the character they are building and imo John krasinski makes a good Jack Ryan. A bright analytical mind who’s not afraid to get dirty when the need arises.

Then again i very very rarely hate on any movies. They are there to entertain. They’re not going to change my life.

Not to mention all the references to election interference and basically portraying the insane dictator wannabe President as Trump. I had to laugh when they talked about Venezuela as something other than a socialist country. Far be it for the left to showcase the failure of socialism in a series like that...

It doesn’t ruin it. It’s an annoyance. I don’t think they mean to make a statement. It just showcases the world progressives imagine, not really the world that is. But it is fiction. And in the fiction, it’s not explicitly a far right dictatorship, but it seems at least a little implied. And definitely the good guys are the progressives. Hollywood seems to be able to portray the extent to which the right wing goes to far, but they’re incapable of depicting their side as having an extreme which can go too far.

In this world the Venezuelans are poor, not because of the failures of socialism, but because the evil dictator keeping all the wealth for himself. Despite the thread title I’ll give you the opportunity to watch unspoiled and not say more.

I usually spot propaganda and if it gets to bad I stop watching it. I don't watch much of anything anymore it's all garbage just about. Hollywood needs a Conservative studio to compete with the liberal and Chinese owned propaganda studios there.

I think we are missing the boat, we should give socialism a trial run.

We can start with the tv and movie studios and the NBA. We'll call it the "Entertainment for All" act. A government run board will set compensation for actors, producers, athletes, and anyone else in the entertainment industry that is responsible for making entertainment so expensive for the common man.

Entertainment should be a human right. There are a lot of studies that indicate happiness has an impact on your overall health. Entertainment should just be included as another aspect of government run health care.

There is no reason why anyone in Hollywood needs to making more money than the people working the front desk at the local movie theater. LeBron James plays in a government built stadium for crying out loud, why is he making more money than the ushers?

It's time. They are always crying out for socialism and social justice, let's give it to them.

If you want to watch something closer to reality, catch a documentary.

Personally, of the 1000's of videos on the net, Jack Ryan is one worth watching from an entertainment perspective.

I'm holding out hope for the Without Remorse movie.

    Edit...

Nevermind. Michael B Jordan as Clark?

    Without Remorse (2020)

And of course, they had to change that.
His pregnant wife was killed in an auto accident.
The reason he "went off" was because he rescued an abused girl that had been a drug mule and prostitute, and she was killed.
