No VFW in Alexandria any longer. Its closed a year or two ago with a lack of membership and missing funds over its last few years.
Most now go to the Eagles.

That recruiting poster is really something! Carrying The Colors into battle, campaign hats, 1911s and 1903s, two guys in back have Lewis guns. It appears to be the Wright Flyer providing air support. You can bet that poster got a few more to Parris Island. Happy Birthday USMC.

Happy Birthday Marines!

I was at a Marine Birthday Celebration / Promotion Ceremony yesterday at Ben Davis HS. My granddaughter is JROTC and was one of many young people in JROTC being promoted.

It was a proud moment not only because of my granddaughter, but because I know many men and women fought and died for the freedoms I have (we share) today.

My hat if off to all of you. Thank you.
