After claiming an 11 point buck this morning i find myself in need of a taxidermist. Any suggestions? Any tips on skinning for a head mount? We usually are just after meat but I feel like deer this size don't come by often.

Antler and Fin taxidermy. I've had him do some antler mounts and when I've been in there the shoulder mounts all look great. West side of Indy.

Would suggest you consider having a pedestal mount done. Either a wall pedestal or mounted to a fence post or some other stand. You got a lot more of the animal. I can personally recommend the Outdoorsman. They do an excellent job, have decent upturn around time ( approx 1 year ), and are competitively priced ( figure around $450-$600 ). You can Google deer mounts and get a good idea of the different poses.

Ronnie Bruce at Lost Creek Taxidermy in southern Indiana is one of the best. He does excellent work and has won several Awards for his mounts. Check him out. Hes well worth the drive from wherever you are in Indiana!
Heres a pic of my buck from last year he did for me.Sorry for the crappy cell phone pics. Really does it no justice!

    .
    Baker’s Camp Taxidermy, Bainbridge.

The dude works on projects for Cabela’s....if that gives you some idea of his skill level and that of his staff.

Unless the animal is rotten, I think they can mount just about anything they want to work on.
