I'll put my flame suit on before I post this...

"Wayne LaPierre, the embattled chief executive of the National Rifle Association, banked a 57 percent pay hike last year — amid the din of calls for him to retire, a report said. The nonprofit group’s latest tax filings show LaPierre received a base salary of $1.3 million, plus a bonus of $455,000 and “other reportable compensation” of more than $427,000, The Washington Post reported Friday. La*Pierre, 70, also received an additional $73,793 in “retirement and other deferred compensation” and “nontaxable benefits” from the NRA and related entities, according to the filings."

Keep sending in your NRA dues and voting for anyone with an "R" by their name and this will all resolve itself.

Oh, goody goody, another bash the NRA thread. Just what the anti 2A sides hope will happen, we will cut off our nose to spite our own face.

I never get an answer on this question, what should the CEO of a $400 million dollar company make?

Yup! A CEO of a $400 million dollar company should make what he is paid if he in uncontested, this case over 1 million. This is the US. People don’t like it, can vote with their money. CEOs are responsible for the success or failure.
Lets say without Wayne’s decisions (hate him as some may), they would have brought in 80 million less annually. Is he worth 1 million now?

    yes.

Don't have to like him for him to have earned his money well!

I don't think Wayne alone has been responsible for that kind of revenue coming into the NRA. What we're seeing now with the NRA is that current leadership has overstayed their welcome and it's time for the organization to benefit from some turnover with some fresh ideas. Personally I'm done supporting the NRA, and started putting my money towards the GOA. I think the NRA should just go back to hosting rifle matches.

    He made $1.4 million in 2017, $2.15 million in 2018...and $5.1 million in 2015 and $1.4 million in 2016.

It seems that around $1.3-1.4 million is his base salary and the rest is bonuses, deferred compensation and retire payouts.

We should at least have some context.

Oh ya.... Thanks for reminding me.
It's time to upgrade my life membership again. While I'm at it I need to pay off my two daughters' life memberships as well. I'll also see about getting some hats and other paraphernalia for them to wear to college.

Every time there is any negative stories about the NRA, they always seem to get more money out of us.
Weird! Bad publicity is still publicity.

    Thanks guys. :yesway:

The NRA is kinda like Trump. Can we afford to not back them?

I don't think so. The penalty for "getting your way," is not worth losing what we will. :twocents:

NRA is dead to me until WLP is OUT.

The strength of gun rights in this country is in the people, not the NRA. The NRA does not hold our rights hostage to pad Wayne's wallet. If they don't shape up, we'll do it without them. We don't need the NRA and we don't need Wanye.

The NRA has endorsed every piece of gun control this country ever passed. They don't care about our rights, they only care about themselves. Please, let this stupid corrupt boomer organization die so the real advocates can step up.

Rep nazis denied me. I'm with you. How an org can beg for dollars from me via email nearly every day, all the while the execs are overpaid AND overspending to boot?

And I'm not as concerned about his salary as much as the other perks. I'm sorry, but if you are raking in millions, you can afford to buy your own damned clothes. If I have to buy my own work clothes, so can he. Nothing pissed me off more than when I read the report that he dropped $30,000 in a beverly hills clothier in one day. Really? If he wants to spend his own dime on overpriced suits, great. But as a member, I want people who are fiscally responsible spending my dues in a responsible manner. Imagine what they could have done with that $30,000 to actually be beneficial to the cause?

EDIT: And I see this thread as more of a "Bash his Majesty, WLP".

To repeat, I believe the NRA needs an overhaul, BUT, after the election, not now. I voted for Adam Kraut, a reformer, you can read my posts on the NRA election.

The leader of an organization that went from $100 million in 2010 to over $400 million now should make a lot of money. Heck, buy him suits, vacations, limos, whatever, the guy that knows how to quadruple revenues in 10 years? In the time WLP has been on the job our rights have gotten better in most states, we have won momentous SCOTUS decisions, and the organization he leads was the first major player to endorse Trump, shocking the world by defeating HRC. Not implying WLP did it alone, but leadership at that level is critical to success of all players. How much would Bloomberg give him to raise $400 for his anti 2A side? These leaders are not hunting or shooting buddies, but rather skilled political operatives and fund raisers, both tough jobs to do.

So the NRA has found a few compromises that you (and I for that matter) don't like. Welcome to politics. You cannot win them all and very well could lose them all. As in the bumpstock situation, I believe had they not done the exuctive ban, that will likely be overturned in court, you may have had reason to be really upset. I believe both parties were on the path to a gun control bill and that action let the air out of the political situation at be time. I doubt that very many gun owners are as strong of defenders of the 2nd as you and I, without the NRA to lead them we could lose much political clout we have built up.

And lastly, just who is gloating in this coverage? Oh yes, our mortal enemies NYT, WP, and of course Bloomberg. Why is this such big news to their readers? It is not. They revel in causing dissension in our ranks and need to get it out there to cause threads and infighting even on a pro gun forum.

My money goes to the 2AF and GOA. Screw the NRA and the equine it rode in on.

Could you post links to the federal election year successes 2AF and GOA has initiated? Money spent on get out the vote efforts? They both serve a valuable need, but winning federal isn't in the cards for them.

A couple things to keep in mind. NRA-ILA (PAC, boots on the ground during elections) receives no money from membership. We are less than a year out of an election and there are two uber-lib SCOTUS Justices over 80. That's a chance at 7-2, not 5-4.

Same arguments for the libertarians, what have they done for us, i get it. But ths NRA is dead and bloated. Do you really think that WLP is solely responsible for the growth in the organization? Like it or not Obama, and the bat-$#!^ Democrats/ socialists have driven membership as much as anyone else in my estimation. I can't-no, i went support the machine just because it's the least worst option. It might get worse before it gets better, but not one more inch means just that. Support politicians who want to infringe on 2A rights, you're dead to me.
