A friend of mine just posted on Facebook that he sold a gun and accepted payment via PayPal. Apparently this is a violation of the Paypal user policy. The issue at hand is my friend has now been notified by Paypal that they are holding his funds for six months ! He is contemplating taking them to court. Reportedly Paypal is registered as a banking institutions in Indiana and this would violate state banking laws. Anyone else experience this ?

Do business with socialist supporting businesses like Pay Pal and this is what you get. Same with eBay. I gave up on both of them years ago. Tell your friend if he posted a picture of the firearm on FB and it showed a serial number, he can go to the bank with the fact that it is now cataloged and stored in a FB or Google database....

Recently happened to me. They shut me down without telling me why. I kept getting the same copy/paste excerpt from their user policy via email. Vague as it was I called many times so far asking why and one rep said he couldn't tell me because it would give me the info to circumvent their policy. After that it was all denial that there was no info as to why. Same as others above, my money os on hold for "up to 180 days" whereas I asked a couple different reps would that mean it is a max of 180 days and not to exceed that time from and I could have the funds released to me sooner than that. And as I'm punching holes in that they kept trying to change the subject. Needless to say I was doing good at pissing them off. Tried going through Twitter and got the bot reply asking me to DM them. Another waste of time. They claim I have an existing chargeback placing money on hold but they won't do anything to help close it out. Since I was trying to be proactive about it to get my money and be done with them, all of a sudden they can't do anything to help me.

And earlier today, Gorilla Arms Company made an IG post showing they got shut down on Paypal. In the comments the curator of the page suggested they may shut down the company as a whole. Hate to see that happen.

The company was different when Elon Musk still owned it. Once he sold it to eBay and they changed their business practices, it went down fast. I was a Paypal customer for over 10 years. Now I'll just get a pre paid debit card to use so it's not directly connected to my bank.

I'll look into how they are registered/structured in Indiana and see if there's room to apply some pressure and get my money back. I already have 3 lawyers on retainer so I'm certain I can get a referral.
If they are a banking entity and they are holding money from Indiana residents and using it for investment purposes or using it for the benefit of them as a company, my guess would be they might owe me some of their profits.

Its pointless to sue. By the time you get through the courts the funds will be released. This has happened repeatedly, and not just for guns. If they disagree with you, they'll tie up your cash for 6 months. "for security". They have even cancelled several business accounts for various reasons and said they were freezing the account funds to protect against charge backs. This isnt a new story.

Damn. That sucks. I've used PayPal tons of times to buy and sell parts. On here quite often too. Of course I am discreet about that in personal transactions and make sure Friends and Family is used. Flagging transactions on parts makes no sense as I've used PayPal to buy parts from obvious Firearm companies like TacDom. Heck have bought firearm parts off Ebay without issue. Never had an issue.....yet

^^^This.^^^ Apparently PayPal is quite okay with it as long as they (ebay = PayPal) are getting their cut. I bet if Vigilant had an ebay account and sold the parts there, they wouldn't have batted an eye (as long as it wasn't "high capacity magazines").

I was looking at a gun for sale last night on one of those gun for sale sites, and PP was the only option for payment the seller
offered. Don't know how that will work for them.
