Saw on the Facebooks a decorative install of a wall outlet surface mounted to a stacked stone facade. They used 3/4 copper for conduit to feed the box, which was covered by a decorative wood box. Looks sharp. Idle curiosity. Would that meet code here? If code calls for EMT, would any metal tube work? Or must it be actual EMT?

Whatever is used for conduit should be listed for use as conduit... so common copper tubing would not be approved. But you could put copper tubing over approved conduit.

Thanks, makes sense on one hand, not on another.

Looking closer at the guy's work, I am beginning to doubt there is a box behind the wood. I bet its a code nightmare.

Dont think so. They even used decorative copper plumbing straps and the sizing was perfect.

Then the person doing the work was probably more interested in the aesthetic than in actually following code.

But as LGF said, it probably could be done correctly.
