All INGO mechanics I need your help:

2007 Silverado with the 5.3 liter motor. 192k miles

I started and drove the truck 30ish miles tonight without any issue before parking it for a few hours. I then returned a few hours later and tried to start it with no response. The dome and headlights work, but there isn't even a click from the starter. All I have tried so far is jump starting it with zero success as well as checking the fuse for the starter.

I am no mechanic but like learning as needed. Any ideas of what the problem could be or what I should try?

    Thanks in advance!

Sounds like a starter to me. If you have someone that can help, roll underneath and tap on the starter repeatedly while someone is holding the key in the start position. Don't beat the hell out of it just a nice light repetitive rapping on it. If it starts to crank while doing this replace the starter.

Easiest test without breaking out a test light or Dvom and probing wires.

Chech positive battery cable , they tend to go bad even if they look good .

    1. Try shifting to neutral and see of it cranks, might be defective neutral safety switch.
    2. Does it have a security light indicator? What does it do when you try to start the engine? As mentioned before if the light stays on or flashes this could indicate a security system problem. If the key is a chipped key, try a different key.
    3. Turn on the headlights and see what they do when trying to start the engine. If the lights stay nice and bright this indicates a starter circuit problem as no load is being placed on the battery, no connection to the starter. If the lights get very dim or go out this indicates low battery voltage, high resistance or high load in the starter circuit or defective starter.
Just some quick suggestions, good luck.
