COLUMBUS, Ind. (WTHR) - A man called 911 by mistake, but wound up going to jail anyway.

Bartholomew County Sheriff’s deputies got the call to the 300 block of Daugherty St. Friday night on a 911 investigation.

Aaron Allman, 48, of Columbus accidentally called 911. He told dispatchers that everything was fine and no one needed to respond. Deputies responded anyway and they were able to confirm that Allman had a warrant for his arrest.
Allman was taken to the Bartholomew County Jail on that warrant.

Sheriff Matt Myers posted on his Facebook page Saturday, "Thank you, Mr. Allman, for giving us a call to pick you up. Doesn't get any better than this. Lock your cell phone when not using."

Question for LEO; Is there a database attached to 911 calls that would show the outstanding warrant?

No database that Im aware of. But when the cops show up just to make double sure everything is ok, they will ask him to identify himself. And of course if he has warrants, he'll know it and likely be sketch AF, so cops will pick up on that and be inquisitive.

And that reminds me of a story. Night computer operator at a company downtown finishes his work for the evening and has made the backup tapes which are stored off site. He calls the data security company to come pick up the tapes. Let's say the phone # is 291-1000. He dials 9 for an outside line, but dials the 2 before he gets the outside line, and continues with the rest of the number. 911 answers and his response is "This is XYZ company, the tapes are ready for pickup."

If they had prior 911 calls from that same phone number the caller’s name is generally attached. I would guess that was the case here.
