I wonder where this one will end up? Just another way to spend tax dollars of Marion County residents?

You nailed it. More money poured into smoke and mirrors which won't accomplish anything but putting money into the pockets of those claiming to be able to make a change. There will be zero time or effort spent working to find ways of deterring bad behavior, instead they'll find ways to waste money and continue coddling the parasites. There is an easy answer but no one seems willing to address it. We need a jail/prison capable of housing 10,000 inmates who spend their time filling potholes, mowing city owned properties and picking up trash. You want out of your cell? You work or you stay in a cage. Serve 100% of your time if you make the slightest mistake, perfect behavior results in only serving 85%. Been there before? Good, apparently you didn't learn so this time you get a special cell which is half the size of your original and you'll spend 20 hours a day in it. No TV, no internet, no workout facility. You can have books and crayons.

Change the state Constitution. "Rehabilitation" doesn't seem to work, it's time to go punitive.

You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to phylodog again.

We always hear about "jail overcrowding". Now as far as I'm concerned, unless the prisoners are stacked wall-to-wall and floor to ceiling, there's no "overcrowding". Want more room? Build more jails. Or let the non-violent offenders in there that got caught with a joint in their ashtray out.

Jail is supposed to suck. If it doesn't suck, then being incarcerated is no deterrent at all. Maybe the Turks had it right.

My thoughts: The conclusions from the committee will result in a recommendation of "sensible gun control" and more "free" stuff for "at risk" youths.

The press release says they want to study criminal justice strategies and outcomes, policies, and resources.
I take it as a study of how we react to the crime as a deterrent, without addressing being proactive.
Maybe we're good on the proactive stuff, enforcing curfew, targeting crime areas, putting perps through the revolving door.

Will this be another tax payer funder union for the criminals in indy? AKA 10 point coalition.
    Extortion.
Reminds me of what the tribal leaders figured out they could do to the U.S. government in Afghanistan. Yeah they'll take your millions and millions of dollars in cash and tell you what you want to hear and throw you a bone against one of their rivals every once in a while to make you think they are working for you and that your program is working.

Hell yeahs, 11 point coalition, its better because it goes to 11 !

I wanted to rep Phylo, but it wouldn't let me :(

IMHO today's criminals are different than those of not all that long ago.
While rehabilitation might have been a good idea back then, it just aint gonna work now.

It seems as if most simply are not wired right, have no soul.
Flat out don't give a damn, about anybody, which includes themselves.

WFYI recently aired an interview with Shonna Majors, Indianapolis’ Director of Community Violence Reduction. She talked a lot about engaging with youth across the city. She talked about mentoring and job programs to give kids something to do. That's admirable, but not once in the interview did she mention the words parent or parenting.

Parents aren't included because we all know that it takes a village.
