I saw a meme the other day joking about eating penguin. Me and a friend had a conversation about this. A brief search didn't turn up much.

    https://www.smithsonianmag.com/arts...ind-of-dinner-bell-in-the-antarctic-22002918/

    From the article...
They taste like “a piece of beef, odiferous cod fish and a canvas-backed duck roasted together in a pot, with blood and cod-liver oil for sauce”—

So now we'd like to try it. I know INGO members have been around the world and done all kinds of things.

And for further discussion, what else "weird" have you eaten?

    Here's the meme.

Alligator and a scorpion is about as odd as I've eaten. Both tasted like rubbery chicken. Bet that penguin does too.

Not much for unusual meats- venison and rabbit are as far as I've gone.

But I've been learning about local foraging, which involves a lot of plants people don't know are edible, so: dandelion (fairly well known), redbud trees, plantain (not the banana, but the common lawn weed), white pine, daylillies.

It made me think of this from the description... But have at it BT--just be willing to enjoy the nastiness without sharing, huh?

I'm not into nuns so I've never eaten penguin(s).

That recipe reminds me of one similar but you throw the penguin in the trash and eat the baking dish.
