I went out for Bataan, which got cancelled due to Kung Flu, so I ended up just hiking on my own. Photos are from Franklin Mountain State Park, Sandia Mountain, Petroglyph National Monument, Border Patrol Museum, and Nature Walk behind the Archaeology Museum in El Paso.

Great pictures and looks like perfect weather. Thanks

It was for the most part. I got at least three seasons at Franklin Mountain, though. Sunny and 70 to small hail and cold rain. Sandia mountain still had snow at the top, several feet deep in places. I didn't hike there, though, that was a drive up and walk around type thing.

So that what real nature looks like! I miss sights like this but don't miss California politics. Thanks for posting from your west tour and hike.

Thanks for sharing. I’ve never been in those parts. I was born in Oklahoma and have been to various areas there. Some of the areas I’ve been to there sorta resemble some of that. Certainly different than what we’re used to east of the Mississippi.

Thanks for neat pictures. My Dad was born in Idaho. Reminded me of southern Idaho near Richfield. In the pic prior to the cave looks like what Dad called Apache paintbrush.

Glad you guys enjoyed them. I took way more than usual because my wife didn't go and I used "livetrack" on my Garmin along with sending her photos periodically so she could sorta-kinda experience it as well. I usually just enjoy the hike but I was in full Japanese Tour Bus mode this trip.

BTW - my sister was born in El Paso. Dad was stationed at White Sands Missle Base and no birthing facilities there at the time.

As a northern Indiana flatlander raised in the middle of a cornfield, I didn't think I would like the desert southwest. I was right. I don't like it. I LOVE it.

Of course, I have only visited between December and March. Outside of that window, I could see my enthusiasm being greatly diminished.;)

    Great pics. Thanks.

    under your bed!!!
I grew up between El Paso and Las Cruces. Those pics bring back lots of memories. My brother still lives in El Paso, probably 2 miles down the west side of the mountain from the franklin mountain state park.
