ISP Top Pistol Shooters

In times past, there have been some top shots who were state troopers. One was John E. Hatfull, who was killed in the line of duty. Another was a trooper who competed in bullseye pistol matches, as well as, international pistol matches in the '70's. His first name was Jerry. Can anyone remember his last name?

I remember Trooper Wilder.
He used to live a little west of Rensselaer many years ago.
I assume he was assigned to that area.
