Gas range ignitor question

one of our ignitors is not working correctly. it is arcing out along the insulated portion. does that mean the porcelin is cracked? can I insulate here or should I just buy a new one? $90 replacement part

Yes that normally means the porcelain is cracked. Time for a new one.

it's a fairly custom profile. I asked a DIY appliance repair FB group and no solutions.

I found a company with them for $45 but only ship to new England

of course I paid $75 for an appliance company to come out and quote me $500. d'oh
