    I remember him as one of the great rivals with my Yankee heroes. He, along with Rocky Colivito, Luis Aparicio, Norm Cash, Bill Freehan, Denny McClain, Micky Lolich used to give the Yankees a run for their money. Never was a word said of him acting inappropriately. A true gentleman as I recall.

    I followed him as a kid when I lived outside of Detroit. My dad always said he was a real American and someone a kid could look up to.

    He was right about that.
