    Ah, yes. Canola, Rape seed oil. Rape in cattle feed drives them mad. Canola (Canadian oil association) originally a light machine oil until Canola paid millios to the FDA to approve it for human consumption.

    Butter doesn't need to be refrigerated if it is used within about a week, longer when the room temp is reasonably cool.

    I generally keep it in the freezer (lots) but I keep a pound or so at room temp for use. My unsalted for baiking is out all winter.

    Sure for longer term storage we freeze it too, but what we use for meals is room temp. If the house is in the '60s, it may still be rough on wonder bread...

    Yep, I leave mine out because I go through a stick about every 3 or 4 days. But I keep the house at 68 degrees so sometimes I'll still soften it a little bit in the microwave if I'm spreading it on regular bread (before I put it in the toaster oven).
