Have been watching a few YouTube vehicle stops by various law enforcement agencies. In almost every case as the officer approached the stopped car he (or she) touches the rear of the car, often the tail light lense. What the purpose ?

That and to make sure that the trunk lid is latched. Been plenty of cases where officers were ambushed from a shooter in the trunk.

I was expecting this to be about curb-stomping or wallet stealing.

If that's the reason, I'd put my whole (ungloved) hand on it, spit on the car, drag my sack against it and possibly bleed on it. If things go so bad that they need to fingerprint a car to see if I was there...that's pretty bad.

I think we learn 2 things:

    1) A traffic stop with me would be YouTube gold, and
    2) I should never be a cop.

That's actually the furtive placement of a nano-GPS linked tracer.

    Wait.

    I've said too much.

Remember after the officer makes contact with you and goes back to his car to run your info. Get out with a wet wipes and clean the finger print off.

If the cop has a problem with it. Tell him not to touch your stuff .
