Have been watching a few YouTube vehicle stops by various law enforcement agencies. In almost every case as the officer approached the stopped car he (or she) touches the rear of the car, often the tail light lense. What the purpose ?
Just s guess but, leave a fingerprint incase of a violent encounter, bad guys gets away. Then is found. Proof?
No clue just my ignorant guess

Remember after the officer makes contact with you and goes back to his car to run your info. Get out with a wet wipes and clean the finger print off.
If the cop has a problem with it. Tell him not to touch your stuff .

drag my sack against it
That is frowned upon?
I think the more important question is: "are you serious about leaving evidence behind or not?"
