Well that stinks. My daughter and I just started the series this week, she has never seen it before.

Just binge-watched TLOR and the Hobbit series again during the pandemic.

Some of the finest filmmaking ever.

I probably read the series of books 4 or 5 times as a kid. There was also a "prequel" book called The Silmarillion that was very good. It starts out slow - almost like the Old Testament with all the "so-and-so begat so-and-so" kind of stuff, but then it gets better. Gives the "history" of Middle Earth long before the time of TLOTR. It was edited and published posthumously by his son in 1977.

Yeah. I've read the books a couple of times.

I bought a deluxe set as a gift for my oldest granddaughter. She's still a bit young, but I hope eventually she reads them.

I need to pick up a set/sets for my grandkids too. The youngest granddaughter has a few years before she'll be ready for LOTR, but she's not too far from being ready for The Hobbit. The older kids are probably ready. I've got "The Bears of Blue River" to give to my oldest grandson first though. He's into the outdoors and hunting, so I'm hoping he'll enjoy it as much as I did.

Sad to see Bilbo go, also was Vito Cornelius in the 5th element.
Misread this at first. Thought it said “Vito Corleone” I guess if you were to combine the two you might get something like. “Don Cornelius”

    Rip Bilbo.
