The movie Soylent Green is playing on tv right now. People walking around with face masks. Standing in line on soylent green day waiting for a hand out. Poignant movie. How far away are we ?

Indefinitely. Human beings are hilariously inefficient as a source of food. You'd be better off grinding up the people and feeding them to hogs if you really wanted to maximize limited resources. But that makes for poor social commentary.

Feed us to catfish for a better ROI.
    Very efficient at protein production.

If humans were being grown as livestock, you'd both be correct. However, utilizing people for food is more efficient than using them as animal feed. Think of it this way, 100 lbs of Soylent is 100 lbs of food. 100 lbs of animal feed will not produce 100 lbs of human food.
