...I would like to thank the Chevrolet Division of the General Motors Corporation, Mobil 1, Wix Filters and Rock Auto, without whom, this would not have been possible.

    2007 Silverado 1500 (new body style), 5.3L (iron block LY5 and 4L60E). 1 engine, 1 transmission and 3 bumpers.

Other than regular maintenance (including brake jobs), I have replaced both front hubs (but at 170,000 miles, that may be considered "regular maintenance), 1 airbag sensor, the TPS sensors (originals lasted for 10+ years) and a purge valve.

You can tell how much a baby it.

This was after the latest bumper replacement. We upgraded to the 2009- bumper this time and put on a new grill. My son did a lot of the work.

Not sure I follow? Your son did a lot of the work to cause 3 bumpers to be replaced or he did a lot of the work replacing the 3 bumpers?

He did a lot of work replacing the latest bumper. Here's the story.

    1. Original bumper had a small dent, replaced it.
    2. Rear ended Porsche Cayenne when they started from a yield sign...and so did I. Then they slammed on the brakes. Replaced replacement bumper with original dented bumper.
    3. Smashed original bumper on the back of my wife's van. Replaced that bumper with this one.

Not proud, but this is what happened.

Modern vehicles are well built. Without having to buy a foreign nameplate.

If you take care of most anything built in the last decade or two, you will get a good life out of it.

I just sold my old 1996 2dr Blazer with 219,000 miles on it. Took all of 30 minutes to sell after I put the sign on it. I got stupid money for it.

sold my 93 grand cherokee 4 years ago with 547k on the clock. original motor, trans and transfer case! rusting so bad it had to go, guy bought it for his wife to beat around in it on their farm. bought it in 2001 with 61k on it for $1500 when the PO couldn't get it to run (security issue) bypassed the security system for free and drove it 15 years.

Just turned 160k on my 07 ram with the 6.7 Cummins. Runs like a top.

I just cut out the rust on the passenger side bed and put in new metal. Drivers side next year.

Have you done the brake lines on this yet. Or is this model year past the point where GM set us up for failure.
