It's that time of year again.
I found a Toys for Tots drop box at my local Menards this week, so I had to make a donation.

This is one of the few "charities" that I trust.
If you don't know about them, please go here, www.toysfortots.org to learn more.

Since 1947 The Marine Toys for tots program has been distributing toys to children who may otherwise not receive any gifts at Christmas time.
Being a "dormant" Marine, this charity is very close to my heart.

You can donate money to the campaign if you choose, but their main goal is toys.
They ask that you donate new, unwrapped toys.
They try their best to match donated toys to children of the appropriate ages, sexes...

The toys do not need to be expensive, but they do ask for new toys.
I know this has been a trying year for most, but if you can, please donate what you are able and comfortable in doing.
Every little bit helps, and think of the smiles you'll generate with your donation.

"It's for the children" after all...

    Thank you for your consideration.

Me and the daughter always pick out a toy each year and donate. She's 10 and this will be her 6th year of doing it. Trying to instill as good of values upon her as I can. Last year she took the money from her piggy bank to pay for her selection. I must be doing something right.

Definitely worthy cause and I would encourage those that can, to do so

CKW and I were just discussing what we can do this year that will not be wasted or misused. This is perfect timing and why this escaped our minds is a bit troubling.
I will get others involved as well.

    Thanks for posting this.

I usually end up buying an extra Transformer toy at some point in the year, then save that for this. I have been doing that for the past 5 or 6 years now.

This year I have managed to not accidently buying an extra of one I bought before. So I will have to go buy one on purpose this year. Ah well.

Walgreens has many of their toys at 70% off right now in NWI. (That's $5.99 for a $20 toy or $2.99 for a $10 toy.) If they have any left, I have actually seen them go down to 90% off. This is when I stock up for next year's Toys for Tots donation. I pick up discounted toys in January (or throughout the year) and put them in a box in the garage until November. I try to get toys that are more classic and will not be obsolete in a year. Picked up some Mickey Mouse and Pooh Bear baby toys, as well as some Nerf dart guns, Mr Potato Head, and Melissa &Doug wooden puzzles. I did pick up some nice-looking no-name brand RC cars and trucks also. The Walgreens employee I spoke with said she got a couple for her son and they worked fine.

I'm sure other stores are having good toy sales also right now. This is the time to get more bang for your buck.
