Fans sound off on sound at Lucas Stadium

    Updated: Sep 14, 2008 06:04 AM

Indianapolis - Some fans are sounding off after Saturday night's first concert at Lucas Oil Stadium.

Kenney Chesney was the featured act for the stadium's musical debut.

Several fans in the stands called Eyewitness News to complain about the acoustics.

Concert-goers said the speaker system wasn't set-up properly and they couldn't hear the music.

"You can't hear nothing. It's just one great big long rumble because it's echoing from the roof and the walls," said Bill Howard.
Howard said he spent over 600-dollars on tickets for his family. He plans to file a formal complaint.

One event organizer told us he wasn't aware of the complaints

I guess I don't understand the problem here :dunno: this building was designed and built as a FOOTBALL STADIUM. If you want to have a concert with good sound, go to Verizon

I think the problem with sound should have been a main focus. The fans at the Hoosier Dome (I refuse to use the corporate name) were the 12th man and the crowd got extremely loud and it helped the Colts defense. Lucas Oil is so massive that you do not get those same levels of noise on the field. Same thing with Market Square Arena and then Conseco Field house. The games seem less personal now with the larger venues.

Also if Concerts and other events were not held in these places then the taxpayer would be hit with a larger burden. The Colts play 8 home games a year not including preseason and playoffs. That is an awful expensive building for such little use.
