    Indiana Code 35-47-11.1

    IC 35-47-11.1-2
    Political subdivision regulation of firearms, ammunition, and firearm accessories prohibited
    Sec. 2. Except as provided in section 4 of this chapter, a political subdivision may not regulate:
    (1) firearms, ammunition, and firearm accessories;
    (2) the ownership, possession, carrying, transportation, registration, transfer, and storage of firearms, ammunition, and firearm accessories; and
    (3) commerce in and taxation of firearms, firearm ammunition, and firearm accessories.
    As added by P.L.152-2011, SEC.4.

    Do be careful of those parks regulated by laws, other than the Indiana IC.

    We have two public parks in hobart that are being used by the schools football team for practice. The schools are also paying for the upkeep of the parks for the 3 mouths they are being used so they are a no go for firearms. Just something to keep in mind.

    How does that work? No one else can visit the "public" park for three months?

    Wonder how much the "rent" is? Maybe we could group-buy a park for a summer.

    If the school is supposed to have exclusive use of the whole park you can't carry there (read felony) even if they "allow" the general public to also use it and watch practices. The fact that they are paying for it will work to your prosecutors favor in his final statement to your jury. On the plus side you might get a window with a view in Michigan City where you can watch the trains go bye. At Wabash Valley you can only see the highway.:(

    The law doesn't say anything about "exclusive" use by a school. It said places used by a school. There is no case law.

    How would I know the park is rented to the school, if I went there?

    The same question can be asked for a field trip stop at McDonalds, or a tour at a museum, a zoo....etc. It doesn't require to be rented....just used as part of a school activity.
