A big F-U to any company that would rather see their employees murdered than defending themselves and each other.[/QUOTE

This viewpoint is pretty much standard in any corporation. It is far cheaper to replace murdered employees than it is for any company with deep pockets to defend against the inevitable lawsuit if your employee kills an attacker.

They do have a no gun policy. I work at PH and it's in the handbook....not to say it gets followed or anything. Esp by all the male drivers and a couple servers.

Has already happened in the past. Employee takes out an armed attacker, loses job for violating no gun policy. How sad.

"I was looking for a job when I found this one." No job exists--especially a minimum wage one--that is worth more than one's right to defend their life and limb

    Outside the coup
Most of the time when someone is fired for this they just fade away into obscurity because they don't make an issue of it. I've also seen where the person was either offered their old job back or another company stepped in and hired them when the firing has gotten some publicity. Since the news has picked this up it will draw a bit of attention if he is fired.

I general I don't think people, even those ambivalent about guns, think it's right to fire someone who defended themselves and their co-workers against an armed attack. At least I hope most people think this way, it's a sad day when they don't.

I don't spend my money @ PH. Been 30 yrs since I was in one, I don't like they way they do business. Employee will probably be "released", but is alive today, so good for him.
