    Not sure I'd take that risk. Might first try physically removing them or forcing some distance between the bad guy and good guy.

    If you do any practicing (not being a smart guy just saying) like beating 8" steel at 25 yds I believe this would not have been all that tough unless the adrenaline overcame you.

    Depends. Contact shots are a pretty sure bet, just watch over penetration. Proximity negates skill.
