I actually envy Canadian coppers who don't carry off-duty, nor want to, they see no need. They are truly off-duty when they are off, unlike us many times. I can tell you that hypervigilance is a beast that will mentally eat away at you, bit by bit until one day you do not even recognize yourself.
Honestly, we're all probably more likely to die from stress than lead. If it stresses you to carry, you're making the right call. (which you knew. )

I won't pile on too hard here, since others have already pointed out that this simply isn't true.

My lounging around gun is a Ruger LCP. It's too easy to carry to not have it with me at all times.
Well the sheriff couldn't catch me now, but his little girl? Sure wish she would.

An LCP II in my pocket and a Sig next to my usual locations all wearing a trigger guard so I don't have to think about what to do to deploy.

The question: "Do you carry at home?" is worth asking again.

If Im dressed for the day then I carry at home close to 100%. If I have gotten ready for bed or just woke up then Im usually unarmed. Were pretty good at keeping the doors locked even during the day though.

I was watching some TV show this week where the person took her gun off as soon as she got home, left it on the counter and went further in the house. Needless to say when she came back out the intruder was holding her gun. I yelled at her when she was taking it off "WHY".

Bernie has been the Lake County Prosecutor for my entire career. I think he currently is not sporting the 'stache, so that may be throwing you off.

Yes, as soon as I get home the 19 goes in the safe, and the 226 or 228 comes out, as they are the stuff down the pants guns. The pizza delivery folks are very polite when you answer the door with a SIG stuffed in your pants, and the solicitors realize they have somewhere else to be. Sometimes, if Ive been cleaning guns or some such, there are guns laying about everywhere, and the house rule is, holstered or trigger covered(Fricke Zach, or Raven Vanguard, or the AR thingy) the firearm is hot. Uncovered trigger or unholstered, not hot. I never deviate from those rules, and every gun goes in the safe hot, ARs, rifles, and shotguns cruiser ready, pistols full mag and chambered.
