It is illegal to carry a concealed weapon, even sporting arms, on school property (K-12 and day care) or on a school bus,[SUP][8][/SUP] Lawful gun owners may have guns in their vehicles on school property provided the gun is stored out of plain sight in the person's locked motor vehicle[SUP][9][/SUP] or that the driver is only transporting someone to, or from, a school event. It is also illegal to carry on a commercial airplane or in the controlled section of an airport,[SUP][10][/SUP] on a riverboat gambling cruise, at the Indiana State Fair, courthouses and the Indiana Statehouse and Government Center. Carrying on Army Corps of Engineers property which include Brookville Lake, Cagles Mill Lake, Cecil M. Harden Lake, J. Edward Roush Lake, Mississinewa Lake, Monroe Lake, Patoka Lake, and Salamonie Lake is restricted according to CFR Title 36, Chapter 111, Part 327.[SUP][11]
[/SUP]Private businesses may restrict or forbid firearms on their properties. However, a 2010 law prohibits employers from discharging employees for in-vehicle firearms possession on business property.[SUP][12][/SUP]Furthermore, an employer may not ask any employee about the possession of firearms and/or ammunition

    Two things to look at:
Places forbidden by federal and/or state law (Federal property per 18 USC 930), courthouses, the State Capitol and government center buildings, K-12 schools, licensed day cares, the State Fair, casinos, etc. Carrying here is a felony.

Places that per owner/management prohibit firearms. If they tell you to leave and you don't, it's criminal trespass (A-Misdemeanor). Concealed means concealed. OC at Wal-Mart? No one notices. OC at a theater? You'll probably be asked to leave before you get your popcorn.

Depends on the movie theater. Most places you'll just be asked to leave though. Which is most likely at a movie theater as several have said. You can look at the laws but a lot of places it's not so much look them up as you won't know their policy until you see a no guns sign on the door or are approached by someone to "kick you out." I'd say if in doubt cover it up!

I have been to enough places near me to know which ones I can open carry in and which ones I can't. When I'm heading somewhere new, say to meet friends at a bar or restaurant, I'll normally call first to find out if they have an issue with it or not. It's a lot easier to change plans to a 2A friendly business than to get to the new place and be hassled. If I'm not sure, I usually wear a cover garment.

I carry concealed because it causes less drama. What people don't see won't freak them out.

It was fun sitting next to my very liberal SIL as she is going on about how "nobody needs a gun" and "she would never feel safe being around guns"...

I would have had more fun OCing in that scenario. Especially to see if she would even notice the gun on my hip.

A store owner that I've known for decades told me he would notice if someone was concealing a gun...
    I was OCing my S&W model 19 (.357)
His jaw dropped when I pointed it out.

You could point out to her that 1 in 6 Hoosiers has a LTCH.
So, no matter where she goes, with certain exceptions, she is probably near someone carrying.

It's not against the law to carry a firearm in a bar in Indiana.
    Same for movie theaters.

It always amazes me that a Frenchman knows more about Indiana gun laws than many Hoosiers.

And it amazes me how often OC is practically CC.
