A man was injured when his gun went off while he was shopping at the Whole Foods in Downtown Indianapolis Thursday night.

Officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department say the 76-year-old man was carrying his firearm in a green nylon bag.

The gun fell to the ground as the man was checking out.

It went off and the bullet struck the man in his lower leg.

He was said to be stable as he was taken to the hospital.

Officers say the man did have a legal permit to carry the gun

Alright INGO'er... come forward, who are you... we promise not to judge.

As an aside... what gun goes off when dropped? How old was this gun?

Also, if anyone feels like "equalizing" the leftist-response in the /r/indianapolis thread... be my guest. Lot of reactionaries already.

Let’s see a list of weapons that are not drop safe.
old DA revolvers pre WW2 most were not drop safe
CZ52 and many surplus foreign autos
Single action revolvers most older ones are not drop safe like Ruger 3 screw Colt SAA and clones ect.
    Colt hammerless 1903 and such
Older 1911’s and clones condition 2

Most of us would never consider carrying anything on this list but to the some a weapon is a weapon.
I know a guy who carries a old Iver Johnson in .32 S&W short lots of old stuff getting EDC.

So sitting in the bottom of a grocery bag with a bunch of stuff piled on top of it isn't the same as a good holster? [making note]
