Deputy from Marion County shot, wounded in northwest Indy

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – A Marion County sheriff’s deputy was shot and injured on Indianapolis’ northwest side early Saturday morning, according to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department.

An exchange of gunfire was reported to have happened after a confrontation between the deputy and another individual at an IHOP restaurant on W. 38[SUP]th[/SUP] Street near I-465.

The Wayne Township Fire Department said that the deputy was transported to IU/Methodist hospital. The sheriff’s office tweeted that the deputy was listed in “fair condition” and that law enforcement was grateful for prayers and support from the community.

I hope the Deputy recovers fully. And I hope the criminal is located that started this "exchange" of gunfire and is prosecuted into the bowels of Hell.

That area hasn't been "good" in decades. My mother live right up the road. Surprised more stuff doesn't make the news. Plenty happens around there. Mostly drugs and petty stuff, but a few shootings now and then.

”Eagle Creek” Airpark to the west, “Eagle Creek” Park to the north, Target and Chili’s both list their locations “Eagle Creek” on the same slab as IHOP...

So yeah, Eagle Creek...

I live in the area since 1989 and “...that area hasn’t been ‘good’ in decades...” might be pushing it a bit.

Indy isn't that bad. Lived here all my life and we are quite happy here. If you like country life than yeah, this isn't the place for you. For urban life, it's pretty good. About as small of a city as I'd live in.
