Is there a legal gun to carry all 50 states? (shotgun, lever action, ect...) I know we are working on Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act but is there already a gun you can carry?

The problem is more about being licensed than finding the hardware. For example, you can't carry in Illinois unless you have an Illinois license. They don't recognize any other licenses and have no reciprocity.

Black powder, percussion cap is your best option for being legal in as many states as possible and I'm still not sure about DC or parts of either coast.

If you just want to talk hardware, not licensing pr permits, you would only have to look at the most restrictive states.

California, Connecticut, D.C., Hawaii, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey and New York have magazine limits of 10 rounds.

    - Requirement #1- Magazine capacity no greater than 10 rounds.

In California, the handgun must be "certified" by the state. https://www.oag.ca.gov/firearms/certguns

    - Requirement #2- Must be on the California "approved" list.

Maryland requires a fired case for "ballistic fingerprint" purposes.

    - Requirement #30 fired case on file with the State of Maryland.

So, get a California approved handgun with a magazine capacity of no more than 10 rounds (the former likely subsumes the latter) that has a fired case on file in Maryland.

Now, do you want to talk local restrictions and ammunition?

I don't believe this one is true. Maryland dropped their ballistic database three years ago.

Not according to USA Carry or Handgunlaw.us. Do you have any other info?
Four states can get a non resident permit.

    NON-RESIDENTS
In accordance with 430 ILCS 66/40 (b), out of state residents may be eligible for an Illinois Concealed Carry License if your state meets the definition of substantially similar as established by rule. See 20 Il. Admin. Code 1231.10. Currently, the states identified below have been determined to have laws related to firearm ownership, possession, and carrying that are substantially similar to the requirements to obtain a license under Illinois’ law; and, therefore, may apply for an Concealed Carry License. This list will be updated as additional states are identified as substantially similar. Further Information concerning the regulations for non-resident applications can be found at 20 Il. Admin. Code 1231.110.
    1. Arkansas, 2. Mississippi 3. Texas 4. Virginia

You can't even carry those without a license here, despite what the law says about them not being firearms... Some guy got caught up on it and they upheld it in court.

One does not need an Indiana LTCH to carry blackpowder handguns or handguns made before January 1, 1899. IC 35-47-2-19.
