Wallet IN LTCH info with IC codes

Does Indiana issue a firearm Permit or License?
Indiana Code (IC) 35-47-2-3 states "application for license to carry handgun" as such Indiana issues a license to carry handgun not a permit. IC is silent on how you must carry your firearm. You can open or conceal carry your firearm.

Where can I not carry a firearm in Indiana?
IC 34-28-7 states that a firearm cannot be carried:
    - In or on school property [1]
    - On a school bus
    - Commercial/charter aircraft
    - Controlled access area of airport
    - During annual State Fair
    - Shipping ports
    - A riverboat casino

[1] IC 35-47-9-1 allows one to carry a firearm while in a vehicle that is transporting a person to/from school. You must remain in the vehicle.

Can I carry a firearm inside a bar?
Yes IC 34-28-7 does not list it as a prohibit place.

Can I drink alcohol and carry a gun?
Yes, Indiana Code is silent on this issue. This means there is no law.

If I am inside business "XYZ" and told I have to leave because I have a gun do I have to since that business is not listed on IC 35-47-9-1?
Yes because you are on private property (business "XYZ") and have been told to leave. If you refuse then you can be arrested for trespassing under IC 35-43-2-2.

Can I carry my firearm inside my car visibly?
Yes, Indiana Code is silent on this issue. You carry your firearm on you, in plain view or concealed in your car.

I have a word file that prints out landscape with this info to place in your wallet if anyone wants it. Good quick info for when you have to deal with uninformed people about the IN laws. Got this idea from another thread on here about a guy getting hassled by the DJ of a bar. The DJ said it was illegal to carry in a bar and to drink alcholo.

Even if you had just misquoted the law to the person who handed you that paper? Remember, you weren't given that paper until you have spewed off mis-guided info.

I carry this in my wallet as well; for the exact same reason, but more-so for the instances (that have been well documented here) where a LEO doesn't even know what he/she is enforcing.

It sounds silly, but it's one thing to have it all typed out; it's a whole different thing when you have the easy-to-find statutes printed right next to those same laws.

    This ^....

If the cops were called per the DJ and you had to explain to the cop the issues you can at least point to him/her the IC you are referring to as oppose to hoping that the cop knows what the IC is. Cops can't know all the ICs!

I have heard of people that printed the law's straight from the net and it meant nothing to the LEO.

To me I am not going to care about some card that someone types up. Id pay more attention to something printed from an offical site but even then some people are really good with photo shop.

Id just print off the IC number's and say here you go, go GOOGLE haha.... again some cop's don't like to be told the law or given the law.

It cannot hurt to have this information with you. Whether someone believes you or not......it is the law and if they don't accept it, it will eventually become clear to them. Thanks jediagh.

You guys are just full of FAQ-worthy threads tonight!
Epilepsy is underfunded and under-researched, but seizures kill more people than breast cancer does each year.

Pami I could NOT find the FAQ threads for the life of me tonight. Looks all over the place and then just gave up. Yes the FAQ have the info but I wanted something that was small enough to put in my wallet to carry around. The WORD file I did fit that bill so to speak.
